WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

 

PHILOSOPHY

An introduction to the essence of yogic teachings. Explore texts forming the foundation of yoga: Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita & Yoga Sutras

 

ASANA

Practice & workshop a wide range of postures, including all core asanas, understanding their purpose, how to simplify & advance

HISTORY

Understand the origins & evolution of yoga with a timeline illustrating the emergence of various texts, traditions and practices of yoga

 

VINYASA

Vinyasa denotes a transitory movement between postures; learn a full scheme of movements to make a class flow beautifully

METHODOLOGY

Study the system of yoga & logic underpinning that system, giving you freedom to create your own practice based on true understanding

 

PRANAYAMA

Gain insight into the energetic body and the main yogic practice that works with it, pranayama. Explore a range of breathing techniques

LIFESTYLE

Learn how to take yoga off the mat and into all aspects of your life… to relationships, family, work, dealing with adversity, presence & perspective

 

MEDITATION

All yogic practices are preparation for meditation. Understand the theory of meditation, along with practicing a number of techniques

ANATOMY

Explore the human body, learning the properties of muscles, joints, connective tissue & nervous system to make postures safe & effective

 

NUTRITION

Learn how best to eat to support the practice of yoga and optimise your health. Explore both yogic & modern ideas on nutrition

ALIGNMENT

In unison with anatomy, alignment aids in safety & effectiveness. Discover the key principles of alignment that may be applied to any posture

Relaxation is of the upmost importance, particular in our fast paced modern world. Learn how to completely switch off & relax

Our Motivation

 

To facilitate a four week intensive program, sharing all aspects of yoga with a group of enthusiastic students is the greatest joy for a dedicated teacher; as such, we find nothing more rewarding than running teacher training courses. Doing so fills us with meaning and purpose.

Yoga has affected our lives profoundly, leading us to take it as our life path to share this timeless wisdom with others. If you are reading this page, you have likely also been strongly affected by yoga. Now is the time to take the next step in your journey. Even if you have no call to teach… if one seeks to really understand any subject, the best way is to learn to teach it.

We deem it of the utmost importance to give you a full understanding of yoga. We strive to transmute the essence of yoga as best we can, putting forth the core teachings and practices, allowing you to reap the full scheme of benefits that yoga offers, hence being able to offer this forward to your students.

Our System

Having explored the majority of yoga systems out there, we found each to have their own merits and limitations. As such, we sought to take the best from each school and create a freestyle system that empowers the practitioner/teacher to be able to create their own practice based on understanding.

Our system works with all layers of the being: asana/vinyasa for the physical body, pranayama and bandha for the energetic layer and meditation for the mind and emotions. Ultimately seeking to go beyond all layers and experience the deepest, truest aspect of our being.

The true purpose of yoga is largely missed today. Yoga originally was a tool for self realisation, based on the notion that our true self is pure consciousness, some essence that simply inhabits a physical vessel. Yoga connects us to that deepest aspect which resides in a state of pure peace, infinite joy and bliss.

Qualification

Gain an accredited 200 hour certification, qualifying you to teach worldwide. The YTT has a limited intake, assuring a small group and therefore plenty of teacher attention.

Our approach to teaching

There is a lot to absorb in a YTT, hence we are mindful to observe modern modes of teaching with a pedagogic approach. Information will be put across in bite sized portions, in a clear, understandable way, so you can absorb as much as possible.

More than a teacher training

A YTT is a life changing experience. 4 weeks of daily practice creates shifts in all layers of our being… nourishing body, mind, emotions, energy and soul. Leave with a new lease on life and shifted perspectives, infused with peace and joy.

Schedule

07:00 - 10:00 Morning Practice (asana, pranayama, meditation & relaxation)

10:00 - 12:00 Brunch

12:00 - 14:00 Philosophy or teaching methodology/practice

14:00 - 14:30 Break

14:30 - 15:30 Workshop or theory

15:30 - 16:00 Break

16:00 - 18:00 Anatomy/alignment or a gentle practice

The course is run 6 days per week (Monday - Saturday), with Sundays off.
